my story matters
Supplies Needed: Journals, Decorating materials
Journals can be mini representations of who we are at a certain time in our lives and our unique identities. This specific activity is designed to encourage emotional and spiritual growth. Instruct Novas to use the cover to describe where they are “right now:” words, pictures, colors to communicate who and where you are right now.
Take this time to let them decorate their journals using paint, magazines, glitter, string, etc. They can also continue working on their story.
DECORATE WALKING STICKS
Supplies Needed: Sticks, paint, wood burner, carving tools, thread, beads, and any other decorating materials desired.
If you did not get the chance to brainstorm yesterday, begin by brainstorming what you want to put on your walking stick. Use a piece of paper or draw your designs on with a pencil.
Consider painting the walking sticks before wood burning or any other decorating.
Use the hot glue gun to mold shapes onto the stick. (Example: Make beads of hot glue to signify times where life was a little bumpy)
Use rocks, glitter, beads, pressed flowers or any other creative way to decorate.
Ensure the Novas that you will have the next two days to complete this craft and to take their time.
IF YOU USE THE WOODBURNER, REMEMBER TO USE THE POWER CONVERTER NOT JUST THE ADAPTER!!
