My Feelings Matter
The following is a new activity that we have never done before. We would like your feedback as well as feedback from the Ways. Please take note of what areas were unclear, not age appropriate, and what the overall impression was towards the activity.
Supplies: all painted wooden blocks, dip dyed strings, and beads
Preparation: We recommend having one Kaleider try this before doing it with the Ways, because the assembly is a little complicated.
Take the longer rope and fold it in half. Thread the folded end through the bottom of the head block up to the top. Tie a knot right near the fold so that the string cannot be pulled back through the block. It should look as though there are 2 strands of rope hanging loose from the bottom of the head. Set aside.
Take the shorter rope and thread a bead on it. Tie the bead exactly at the halfway point.
Choose two ½-inch blocks. Thread them on either side of the rope. Tie knots right on the ends so that the string cannot be pulled back through the block.
Come back to the head block. Thread the 2 loose ropes at the bottom through the bead from step 2.
Take the other 1-inch block and thread it through the 2 loose ropes at the bottom of the bead.
Separate the 2 loose ropes and thread a bead on to each one of them, pushing the bead as close to the block as it can get. Tie a knot so the bead won’t slip down the rope.
At the end of the 2 loose ropes, add the final two ½ inch blocks, one on each rope. Tie a knot right at the end, the string should not be able to be pulled back through the block.
